Indore, Bhopal & Chandigarh are India's cleanest cities

Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, long ago propagated the virtue of cleanliness among Indians.

The nationwide drive did bring a substantial amount of change (although a lot has to be done) on the ground, thanks to volunteers who took it upon themselves to keep the country spick and span.

Hyderabad was ranked India's best capital city for solid waste management by the Swachh Survekshan 2018 survey.

Chandigarh, our city handsome has once again made it to the top cleanest cities of India as per the Indian Government's Swachh Survekshan Survey 2018.

During Swachh Survekshan 2018, a record number of 37.66 lakh citizen feedbacks were collected and 53.58 lakh Swachhata Apps downloaded. "I was more happy when I came to know that GHMC won an award for solid waste management than when I received an award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for administration", said Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy. The survey adds that Jharkhand is the "best-performing state in terms of cleanliness".

In the category of cities with less than 0.1 million population, the cleanest city was Bhadson (Punjab) in the north zone, Bundu (Jharkhand) in the east zone, Kakching (Manipur) in the north east zone, Siddipet (Telangana) in the south zone, and Panchgani (Maharashtra) in the west zone. The Swachh Survekshan 2018 assessed 4203 Urban Local Bodies and was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban). Chandigarh was ranked as the third most clean city. There's no doubt in the fact that our city lovely Chandigarh is also one of the cleanest city in the country as per 2018 survey by bagging the 3rd spot.

The exercise was undertaken between 4th January to 10th March this year. Janardhan Reddy, stating that this was "the mother of all awards", said it emphasized the core concern of city governance in present days.
