RED's Hydrogen One will be available at AT&T and Verizon this summer

RED's Hydrogen One will be available at AT&T and Verizon this summer

The exhibit listing at the AT&T Shape home page promises visitors will be able to try out games, movies and other content on the Hydrogen One's "4-view" display with A3D surround sound. But when it does, the camera-centric smartphone equipped with a holographic display will be available from a couple major wireless carriers. AT&T has only said the smartphone will be offered "later this summer", while Verizon just says before the end of 2018.

Camera maker RED has been accepting pre-orders for its Hydrogen One phone for close to a year now, but the shipping date keeps slipping – from Q1, then August and then to a non-committal “this summer”.

The reason for the RED Hydrogen One phone's delays has been that the company is awaiting certification for major USA carriers.

Another detail missing from the carriers' announcements is how much you can expect to pay for the Hydrogen One.

Prices and additional specifications have also not been announced, though the phones were available for preorder earlier from Red for $1,295 in aluminum or $1,595 in titanium, according to the company's website.

We'll likely have more information on the Hydrogen One leading up to its release. This means the phone can handle 2D, 2D, AR, mixed reality and VR, all without additional hardware or headsets.

AT&T calls the unreleased handset's 4-view holographic display "even better than 3D", while Verizon bills the groundbreaking technology as that thing "3D always wished it was, and without the glasses". Phones purchased directly from RED are unlocked and dual Sim capable.

We don't have an exact release date for the RED Hydrogen One, but Verizon says it will be available "later this year". One person made a video about the phone, showing off that it is real but that person didn't show off its screen capabilities.
