Stormy lawyer: Two more women may have deals with Trump

Stormy lawyer: Two more women may have deals with Trump

Trump acknowledged in the disclosure form for the first time that he fully reimbursed Cohen past year for "expenses" ranging between $100,001 and $250,000. Trump repaid Cohen $100,001 to $250,000 in 2017, according to a footnote in the filing.

The disclosure comes at a time when Trump had previously denied knowing of the $130,000 payment to Daniels.

More women with affair-payoff claims against President Donald Trump similar to those of Stormy Daniels have sought counsel from attorney Michael Avenatti, the lawyer revealed Thursday on MSNBC's "Morning Joe".

Jimenez, who said he spoke with Cohen on the phone but never met him, said his real mistake was to continue payments after Novartis concluded Trump's attorney could not deliver useful insights that he had promised.

The latest ethics disclosure did not describe the goal or the recipient of the original 2016 payment to a "third party" made by Cohen, for which he was reimbursed by Trump. But he said it appears there is paperwork that he expects will show Trump, through his personal attorney Michael Cohen, paid off the women.

Al-Rumaihi told Cohen that Qatar expected to invest in Trump plans to solicit investment in a USA infrastructure program, the Post reported.

A spokesman for Ahmed al-Rumaihi, who at the time was head of the investments division of Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, confirmed Cohen had requested a US$1 million fee.

Cohen has said he fronted the money for Trump, but the president did not list any debts to the lawyer in his federally required financial disclosure filing previous year.

Novartis said its general counsel, Felix Ehrat, had chose to retire from his position in the "context of discussions" surrounding the payments to Cohen.

The Washington Post reported Cohen made the offer in late 2016, before Trump took office.

Al-Rumaihi told the Post that Cohen made the solicitation in early December at the Peninsula Hotel in NY, an account Siegfried confirmed.

Both Cohen and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani have said some of that money was to reimburse Cohen for a $130,000 hush money settlement with adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who says she had an affair with Trump.

"And that's why the President affirmed it, yes", Giuliani said when asked if the financial disclosure process was the reason he revealed Trump paid Cohen back.

Ethics experts say that if that money isn't disclosed, Trump could be in violation of ethics laws for failing to disclose a reportable item, a violation for which others have been prosecuted.

"Frankly I love the idea that the Office of Government Ethics says that everything is fully disclosed and therefore its ethical", Giuliani told CNN.

The Mar-a-Lago resort, where the president frequently escaped for winter weekends, collected more than $25 million last year, down from $37 million from last year's report. Apol's letter was released with the Trump disclosures.
